History of the Green Team

The Green Team was established by the Board in August 2009. The goals created at that time were to: Recognize "green" activities being done within our community by the staff, community, and the residents. Reinforce what is already being done to keep Keowee Key a healthy and beautiful place in which to live. Brainstorm new and creative ways to live up to our slogan, "Think Green, Act Green, Go Green".

"Easy things we all can do"

The Green Team Wants you to KNOW...

Good Habits can make a Difference!

1. Bring your own reusable cup or mug whenever you leave home. This cuts down on styrofoam and plastic bottles that end up in landfills. Styrofoam Cups NEVER biodegrade. They stay in landfills FOREVER! Keowee Key uses 247 cups a day - 90,000 per year!!

2. Buying local produce not only tastes better and is fresher, but saves a huge amount of resources from shipping produce many miles. Try purchasing your produce at these local places: Redmond Boys, Denver Downs Farms, Clemson Farmer's Market, Happy Berry Farms

3. When you go shopping, don't forget to get those cloth bags out of the trunk to use! You can buy reusable grocery and shopping bags just about everywhere now, and they are so much cuter and handier than those ugly plastic bags that are so bad for the environment.
